The Society for Speculation was founded in 2023 by writer Chrissy Kolaya and artist Rachel Simmons to explore serious and absurd ideas about fortune-telling, magic, forecasting, and other forms of prediction and divination. Their artist's books, presentations, and workshops engage the public in a dialogue about future prediction and its role in contemporary society.

Their current project, The Prediction Press & Divination Tool Kit, brings these ideas to life through this interactive community workshop. Combining relief printmaking with reflective writing, participants create their own tools of prediction and divination for self-reflection, while exploring together the universal urge to know what's coming next in our lives.
